Program Details

Veggie IQ is an innovative educational program of Sansum Diabetes Research Institute which began in 2021. The aim of Veggie IQ is to educate children and young people about the link between food choices and their physical and mental well-being by becoming Youth Scientists. With support from the Audacious Foundation, we began offering Veggie IQ to seven local schools beginning in the spring and fall of 2022.

Learning Modules

Veggie IQ learning modules combine traditional learning curriculum with fun, creative, hands-on activities designed to engage students in the process of scientific discovery, leading to changes that improve community health outcomes. Modules include:

Students will be able to connect what they eat to how they feel.

Students will learn why it’s important to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets and how that impacts health.

Students will explore the concepts of food insecurity, access issues and the local food environment in their community.
